Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji Team Up for the First Time in OMG 3; Film to Go on Floors in 2026

Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji Join Hands for OMG 3

Bollywood is set to witness a landmark collaboration as Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji come together for the first time in the third installment of the popular Oh My God franchise, titled OMG 3 (Oh My Goddess). According to a report by Pinkvilla, Rani Mukerji has officially been confirmed as the female lead, adding both gravitas and freshness to the much-loved social-drama Movie.

The Oh My God franchise has carved a unique space in Hindi cinema by blending hard-hitting social messages with entertaining storytelling, and expectations are sky-high for its third chapter.

Rani Mukerji: A Powerful Addition to OMG 3

An insider revealed that the makers felt Rani Mukerji was an apt and impactful choice for OMG 3. Known for her intense performances and strong screen presence, Rani is expected to bring emotional depth and narrative weight to the film. Her casting elevates the project significantly, making it one of the most anticipated Bollywood films in development.

This film will also mark the maiden on-screen collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji—two of the most iconic stars of the 90s—making the project even more special for audiences.

The franchise began with ‘Oh My God’ (2012), directed by Umesh Shukla and starring Paresh Rawal as Kanji Mehta, an atheist who takes God to court after an earthquake destroys his shop. Akshay Kumar portrayed God, and the film boldly addressed issues like religious exploitation and the commercialization of faith.

The sequel, ‘Oh My God 2’ (2023), was directed by Amit Rai and served as a spiritual successor rather than a direct continuation. It starred Pankaj Tripathi as a devout follower of Lord Shiva, with Akshay Kumar appearing as a messenger of God. The film tackled teenage issues and the importance of sex education, earning praise for its sensitive yet engaging narrative.

Director Amit Rai, who helmed the second installment, is returning to direct OMG 3. As per reports, he has cracked a story that is bigger, more relevant, and more hard-hitting than the previous films. Akshay Kumar reportedly wanted the third part to be a notch higher in every aspect, including storytelling, emotional depth, and performances—and Rani Mukerji coming on board has only strengthened that vision.

The film is currently in the pre-production stage and is expected to go on floors between the first quarter and mid-2026.

Apart from OMG 3, Rani Mukerji will also be seen in ‘Mardaani 3’, continuing her powerful run of female-led films. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar has an exciting lineup that includes Priyadarshan’s ‘Bhooth Bangla’, ‘Haiwaan’, and the ensemble comedy ‘Welcome to Jungle’.

With a proven franchise, a socially relevant story, and the first-ever pairing of Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji, OMG 3 is shaping up to be one of the most awaited Hindi films of 2026. Known for thought-provoking cinema that resonates with audiences, the Oh My God Movie is all set to raise the bar once again.
